In the 21st century, I think it’s safe to assume that the Internet is inevitable. It is simply impossible for you to stay away from media or the Internet. Even as a parent, if you want your child to stay away from the harms of the Internet, you simply can’t because almost every aspect of our lives depends on it now.
Now, as there is no escape, the least clever thing we can do is to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet so we can visualize what we are against.
Luckily, we’ll discuss all the pros and cons of the Internet on this topic.

10 Advantages of Internet
1. Everything Accessible
Almost every type of information is present on the Internet, and you can access it from anywhere you want, whether it’s your office, kitchen, or toilet. As long as you have a phone and a steady internet connection, you are set to be entertained.
2. Online Business
I think we can all agree that the Internet has made running a business quite easier. Also, not to forget that after the first lockdown, things started working out for local business owners. They explored this whole new dimension in which they could expand their business.
Not just that, but keeping track of business finance became much easier with the help of some apps, and the credit goes to the Internet.
3. Social Networks
I don’t know if you realize, but there was a time when all the social networks were dealt with physically or on call, etc. I’m not talking about the 18 century or something. There was a time that if you didn’t fit in the nearest social circles, there was an 80% chance of getting called weird and spending time alone.
Just because you don’t enjoy gossiping doesn’t mean you don’t need friends. That’s where you can take advantage of the Internet. You can find every type of person on social media and be friends with someone with the same interests as you.
4. Communication got Easy
And yes, it did. You can communicate with anyone around the world. With the majority of the population on social media and online groups, you can learn and talk to different people from other countries.
I like the part that I can play and chat with friends from other countries. You can share your precious life moments. Even if you are away from your family, a video call is just one click away. And Now, with the metaverse kicking in, things are about to get even wild.
5. Webinars
One of the advantages of the Internet is live seminars or Webinars. It doesn’t matter where you are from. If your favorite speaker is having a seminar, all you need to do is buy a ticket and enjoy live streaming.
6. Access to Rare Books
There are many books that you can’t access from your local bookstore. That’s where you can grab the latest copy of your favorite author online. eBooks have changed the world.
There was a time when the writer’s fate was in the hands of the publisher, but now you can easily publish your books and sell them on Amazon or other eBook websites.
7. Access to research papers
We know that researching for the thesis can be tricky. Luckily that’s to the Internet and google scholar. You can find millions of Published research papers to complete your work.
Now since the person reading has opened its eyes in eh era of the Internet, I’ll help you out and paint you a picture of how it was before the Internet. A researcher was supposed to spend hours, days, and weeks in a dusty library, cramming the books and papers to find a single reference that supports his theory etc.
8. Educational Benefits
I think we are past the point of explaining the educational benefits of the Internet, but still, I’ll point out a few.
You can attend classes, get diplomas from universities from abroad, and watch every process in HD on YouTube to clear up your concepts. The best thing that I like about it is that if you are want to learn a new skill, you can easily do it as there are millions of teachers, books and articles just one click away.
9. Revolutionizing the sector of employment
There was a time when the only type of job you could do was office-based, and you would suffer the bitch of commute. But now you can easily handle everything from your computer at home or anywhere if you have a laptop.
Also, it got a lot easier to find jobs on the Internet.
10. Online Banking
Ditching the long lines of Banks was a dream, and that dream came true due to the Internet. You can make all of the payments online. You don’t need to carry out a lot of cash in your pocket now.
Which, by the way, is terrible news for the street robbers. Lol
11. Online trading
Stock trading got even crazier since you can access the market from your home or office. You can keep yourself updated by various YouTube channels, which will tell you everything you need to know about your next move
12. Entertainment
Now we are getting somewhere. Finally, you can watch everything anytime you want. Whether it’s a show from the 90s or now, it’s just a few buttons away from you.
10 Disadvantages of Internet
1. Online payments
Now online payments can be used as an advantage or a disadvantage. Let’s get into the details. I have a theory that when you are not handling the money physically, it feels like you are buying stuff for free.
And its okay till you are out of your savings with nothing valuable or useful purchased.
2. Health issues
Since the whole world around us can fit into our phones and computers, it gets hard to stay away from them which is causing some serious health problems. Since we don’t get enough exercise and by enough, I mean at least one hour of daily cardiac.
You know, one hour doesn’t seem that long until you get into it, and after two minutes, you’ll be like I’ll just stop eating, but I can’t put up with this. Yes, that’s what we need to avoid obesity.
3. The rise in anti-social behaviors
Now, this point is something I realized a week ago. When a client approached for a voice call interview and I couldn’t talk because I was so used to talking on texts. We forget to have normal human conversations.
A conversation where you need to be present and answer without taking a hell of a time thinking about it. Yes, the texts and instant chat systems have ruined our innate behaviors.
4. Time wasting
It’s every parent’s dream of setting our phones on fire. And now I get why we are so addicted to the Internet that we don’t value the precious time we have, which can be used to learn and practice some skills.
BTW I have a hack for that setting phone on fire, just get your parent’s smartphone to help them out in running it, and you are good to go. They are official of your back. Now that I’m recommending it, it works.
5. Security threats
One of the main disadvantages of the Internet is security threats. Here let me walk you through it with an example. Right now, there are a lot of security companies that provide security programs through which you can lock and unlock your house or buzz someone in just from your phone. T
he horror of this system is it just takes a hacker to screw your system and rob or harm your family.
6. Depression
Now, this can be deep. Let’s consider humans as vehicles and life as a road. We as humans have four wheels: Mind, Body, Soul, and heart. We have to feed off of them with the right food. Otherwise, we won’t get through life easily.
Our mind needs mental exercises to chew upon, the heart needs human relations, the body needs exercise, and the soul is mainly concerned about hope and life spirit. Now in the age of the Internet with constant entertainment, we forget to take care of ourselves which leads to pitfalls and depression.
Then we try to cope with depression by watching the most trending series, but that series end at some point, and our depression are even worse to start with. That’s where the Internet has a huge disadvantage for us. We don’t have time for ourselves.
7. Fake Information
Internet is filled with fake information and remedies. We usually see doctor google before the actual doctor, and honestly, Google just gives death sentences. Nothing else, everything is cancer for google.
Well, coming to point, since everyone has access to write and express their opinion, we tend to believe them, and it can be dangerous sometimes.
Bottom Line
So the Internet is not something you can avoid but what you can do is to educate yourself and be careful while using this soccer stone. Let’s be positive and try to take as much advantage of the Internet as possible.
